The Bamboes Bay Sauvignon Blanc vineyards are planted on Hutton-type soil, layered with limestone which extends deep into the earth. They form part of Fryers Cove's coveted 6-hectare planting at Bamboes Bay, the country's smallest demarcated wine ward.
IDEAL DRINKING
This lady likes to take her time getting ready. Due to the style, character and quality of Fryer’s Cove Bamboes Bay Sauvignon Blanc, we believe that this limited production wine must be at least a year and half in bottle before release, only then does it show it’s real potential, continuing on for a further 5 to 7 years to reach its peak.
SUGGESTED FOOD PAIRINGS
Sushi and nori rolls, and fresh West Coast oysters are stellar matches for the Bamboes Bay Sauvignon Blanc because their flavours vividly echo the salty accents in the wine. Even if you can't enjoy this wine while overlooking the ocean and digging your heels into the sand, its evocative flavours will make the relaxation of a seaside experience wash over you.
TASTING NOTES
On the nose this wine is a vibrant mix of clean herbaceous and tangy passion fruit aromas, with briny wisps of seaweed in the background. The palate shows a combination of citrus, white peach and lemongrass with a saline minerality. The coated acidity is well balanced with all the intense flavours and gives the wine a rich mouthfeel.
